RYA Sailing Skills Lv1This course provides an initial introduction to sailing, covering all the basics and key information to help you get afloat. By the end of the course, you'll have a basic understanding of boat handling techniques and background knowledge, able to sail the boat in all directions.
For someone with no previous experience on the water, Level 1 Start Sailing offers an ideal introduction. The course is entirely practical and can be taken in approximately 2 days. Vertical Divider

RYA Sailing Skills Lv2This course covers yacht handling and sailing in more detail with lots of practical teaching and boat handling. Consisting of 2 days (16 hours) teaching, you’ll learn about manoeuvres on a yacht under sail and power, as both a crew member and helm. While the course does require a background in sailing, it offers families and individuals over the age of 12 the perfect opportunity to improve and build on their existing knowledge.

RYA Start YachtingRYA Start Yachting will introduce you to the joys of sailing a cruising yacht. You'll live onboard with your fellow sailors and really get to know the boat both above deck and down below. By the end of the 2-day course you'll have experienced steering a yacht, sail handling, ropework and be aware of safety on board. Those who complete this RYA Start Yachting certificate can go on to the Competent Crew course

RYA Competent CrewThe RYA Competent Crew course is very much about learning by experience. During the course you’ll live aboard a yacht and will be taught about safety at sea as well as learning to master essential crewing skills. This will include, steering, changing sails, reefing, and tying essential knots. It's very much a hands-on course and the perfect opportunity to experience the freedom of yacht sailing.

RYA Day SkipperThe Day Skipper qualification shows charter companies that you have enough knowledge and practical experience to take their boats out safely, and also qualifies you to apply for the ICC (International Certificate for Operators of Pleasure Craft) to go cruising abroad. During the course you’ll live onboard a sail cruising yacht with your crew mates and RYA instructor. You will cover pilotage, practical navigation, seamanship and boat handling under both power and sail.

RYA Coastal SkipperWith an emphasis on coastal and offshore passages by day and night, the RYA Coastal Skipper Practical course delves into the complexities of skippering a yacht. Designed to push your practical sailing skills to the next level, this course aims to prepare you for more challenging conditions and scenarios on the water. As a purely practical course with a minimum duration of 5 days, you'll cover everything from passage planning to emergency procedures. Each trainee will skipper more demanding passages under the guidance of an experienced instructor.
