Safety
Taking your safety seriously
At Go-sail.je we want you to maximise your sailing experience while also remain safe. We therefore have some safety measures in place which you must be aware of.
Channel Islands waters can be tricky, with large tidal movements, hidden reefs, rocks and pot markers so we do need to know your plans before heading out and require that you are always within 20 miles of a safehaven.
The following features of the boats will allow you to feel safe in your sailing experience:
- Fully managed boat — with well equipped yachts maintained thoroughly between excursions.
- Fully coded and equipped for safe cruising. They are approved by MECAL/Jersey Harbours for charter use.
- A tracking system is also fitted on the vessels allowing us to locate your whereabouts for ultimate safety.
- A lifting keel or outdrives, inflatable dinghy and outboard engine so there's no need to swim in to deserted beaches or wait with the other yachts for the marina to open.
- GPS chartplotters complement a plethora of navigation aids.
All members should have at least the RYA Day Skipper certificate or an equivalent sailing qualification. If you do not have these qualifications but have years of experience, we are able to consider this. Alternatively, if you need to apply for/or upgrade your qualifications we can point you in the right direction.
